New Students

Welcome to Hot Yoga Nashville! We are so passionate about this yoga because we were once beginners ourselves who experienced the amazing benefits that come from a regular practice.

The Hot Yoga series was designed for beginners, so all that is required of you initially is to try to stay in the classroom for the entire class. Many people feel nervous or intimidated when they first visit Hot Yoga; everything you feel is normal. After three classes, you will feel right at home.

You will feel challenged by the yoga during class; everyone does (whether it's your first or five hundredth class). Always work to your edge, but listen to your body and rest when you need to. Advanced yogis know when to work and when to rest, so never be afraid to sit down if you need to. It's normal, especially when you first get started, to feel dizzy, nauseated or lightheaded. As your body acclimates to the heat and yoga, these sensations will disappear.

Arrive 15-20 minutes early for your first class so that we can register you and give you a brief orientation. Avoid eating two hours before class, and drink plenty of water throughout the day before class. Good hydration allows you to enjoy the heat, rather than be overwhelmed by it.

During class nobody will look at you or judge you, so there is no need to be self-conscious. You will quickly realize that other people are working too hard to notice anyone around them.

Take your second class within 24 hours and make up your mind to take 10 classes as quickly as possible. Then no one will need to convince you of the benefits – your own experience will be your proof.
