I kind of can’t believe I just finished the 30-day challenge! Hot yoga every day for 30 days. I felt amazing in that last Savasana today as I let every experience from the last 30 days sink in. I feel kind of sad because I’ll never again get to experience the 30-day challenge for the first time.
What did I learn? I learned that I’m more competitive with myself than I thought. I really can do anything I set my intentions on and it’s such a great...
Speaking of the teachers giving us guidance, today was an especially good learning day. Lauren showed me ways to improve two different postures. On Standing Separate Leg Stretching, she pushed my hips forward more than I thought they could go. In fact, had she not been holding me there, I think I would have toppled over. So I'm not sure I can achieve that posture in its ideal position right now, but I'm so glad to know exactly what I should be working toward....

I can’t say it felt amazing, but I understand now why the teachers say it’s the pinnacle of the entire series. It’s a very vulnerable posture to be in....
I’ve heard that what happened to me in class has happened before, but I didn’t really think it would happen to me. And yet, I experienced it firsthand. I cried for about 20 minutes straight. Hard. Apparently I had some pent-up emotions I hadn’t dealt with, but yoga today brought them out. And once the floodgates opened, I couldn’t stop the tears. (I was thankful that everyone was red-faced and sweaty so I didn’t stick out like a sore thumb with my...
Yesterday in class Susannah told us that for her first year of practicing, she fixed her hair after the exact same pose in every class. She reminded us not to let anything become a habit in class because a habit can become a crutch. I kind of laughed because I don’t have any habits in yoga. Or so I thought. About ten minutes later as I drank water between the standing and floor series, I realized I did, in fact, have a habit. Drinking water at the same point...
